On May 11, 2019, Catherine Payne, affectionately known as “Cat”, made her transition from this early life to eternal rest. She was born on March 14, 1943, to the late Woody Henry and Effie Bailey Henry of Gurdon, AR.
She confessed to Christ early in life and continued to be a faithful Christian throughout her life. She graduated from Henry Bell High School in Gurdon, AR in 1961.
Catherine was employed at Anthony Timberlands in Beirne. She previously worked for Gurdon Public Schools.
Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, Woody Henry and Effie Bailey Henry and her husband Paul Payne.
She leaves to cherish her memories, a devoted son Ronald Payne (Tonya) of Plano, TX; beloved grandsons Roosevelt Payne, ZaKwan Hutchings, and Joshua Payne; beloved great-granddaughter Sasha Payne; stepchildren Chris Nelson and Samantha Payne of Gurdon, AR; brothers James Henry and Woody Henry Jr., of Texarkana, AR; uncles James Murphy Henry of Gurdon, AR and Abraham Henry of Detroit, MI; aunt Glemerine Kountz of Arkadelphia, AR; nieces and nephews Cindy Bell, Lisa Mason (Dwaine), and Patrick Henry of Shreveport, LA; dearest friend Cindy Dickens; and a host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins and devoted friends and co-workers.
Public visitation will be Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Mitchell Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M.- 5:00 P.M. A Celebration of her life will be on Friday, May 17, 2019, at 1:00 P.M. at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Gurdon, AR where Rev. Johnny Harris is Pastor and will serve as eulogist. Burial will follow at Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon, AR.
