Deacon Raymond Green, Jr.

January 18, 1937 ~ September 14, 2019 (age 82)

Deacon Raymond Green Jr. entered into life’s journey on January 18, 1937, in Bearden, Arkansas; born to the Late Reverend Raymond Green and the late Mrs. Annie Albright in Bearden, Arkansas.  He spent his early childhood in Bearden and later moved with his family to Oceola, Arkansas where he completed his education and went on to serve four years in the Military.

Deacon Green’s career includes fifty years of service with the City, County, and state departments of   Los Angeles, California where he retired in the year 2000 as Chief Accountant Controller overseeing a budget including millions of dollars and thousands of employees.

Relocating to Arkansas, Raymond met and married the love of his life Jolene Wright.  In the month of September 1973, they were joined in holy matrimony.  To the union, two children were born completing a family of ten beautiful children who love and respect him dearly.

In relocating back to Arkansas, he and his family united with the First Missionary Baptist Church family of Sparkman under the pastoral ship of his beloved pastor, Reverend Louis A. Craig where he so faithfully and diligently served on the board of trustees, the choir, and as a deacon until his highest calling into the arms and safety of His heavenly Father on Saturday at 12:40 a.m.

Raymond’s honesty, caring, knowledgeable, and blissful personality opened many doors of opportunity where he brought to many people resolution and comfort in the time of need.  Leading by example, he captured others and was able to minister and instill in others the grace of God.  He’s truly built an earthly army for the glory of God.

Preceded him into eternity are three loving children: Beverly Ann Cowan, Rickey Irwin, and Hulon Irwin and a sister: Mary Louise Hosea.  He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his blushing bride and sweetheart of 47 years Jolene (Wright) Green.  His, Children:  Lela (Clarence) Reed, Mattlyn Raye Dennis, and Alesia Lawanna Crockett all of Las Vegas, Nevada; Kimberly Cherron Adams of Arlington, Texas; Supreme Darnise Jones and Raymond Green III of Los Angeles, California; and Nyesha Duanna Rashaad of Houston, Texas. Four sisters: Margaret Tabb of Gilbert, Arizona; Mattye Looper of Henderson, Nevada; Beatrice Collins of Houston, Texas; and Erma House of Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Eighteen grandchildren: Maury, Mark, Donald Jr., Donte, Cale, Jabali, LaShawanda, Brianna, Daneisha, Rickey Jr, Jermaine, Lena, Simeon, Raya, Rhya, Hamza and Haleemah, Thirty-seven Great Grandchildren, one great, great-grandchild and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends who love him dearly.  He truly became a model and stepping-stone for generations to come.
