Ola Bailey Obituary

Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints.- Psalms 116:15

Mrs. Ola Mae (Wiley) Bailey, daughter of the late Atoy and Violet Wiley was born in Okolona, AR on September 27, 1924. She departed this life on February 11, 2019. 

Sister Bailey gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of St. Clair Baptist Church, of the Burtsell Community, where she served until her health began to decline. She served on the usher board, motherboard, Sunday school, Mission board, Culinary Committee, and for many years chaired the committee for the Burtsell Cemeteries. A big part of her legacy was being a faithful supporter of the annual Burtsell Homecoming, held on the 4th Sunday in September.

Her years of employment include working in the cotton fields, day work, cooking in the Spanish kitchen restaurant, and working at Firestone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John W (Jack) Bailey; parents, Atoy and Violet Wiley; one son, John A. Bailey; two grandsons, Daryl, and Deshaun Bailey; three sisters, Easter Lois Wiley, Monteen Davis, and Ellen Wiley.

Those left to mourn her passing are: her son, Earnest Bailey of Okolona, AR; her daughter, Helen Pruitt of Compton, CA; two sisters, Veodis Cook of Malvern, AR, and Clementeen Miles of Chicago, IL; one brother, Lee Wilma (Mary) Wiley of Red Cliff, KY; daughter in law, Rilean Bailey of Moreno Valley, CA; four grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; twenty great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and members of St. Clair Baptist Church under the pastorialship of Rev. D.B. Newburn.

Services are under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Arkadelphia, AR. Visitation will be at Mitchell Funeral Home on Friday, February 22, 2019, from 12:00 noon to 6:00 P.M. The family will greet friends and extended family from 5:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 1:00 P.M. at Mount Canaan Baptist Church in Gurdon, AR where Rev. Johnny Harris is the pastor and Rev. D.B.Newburn, pastor of St. Clair Baptist Church in the Burtsell Community, is the eulogist. Burial will be at St. Clair Cemetery.
