Alberta Reed Obituary

"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:"
John 11:25

Sister Alberta Macon Reed was born on November 11, 1914 in Arkadelphia, AR to the union of John (Boss) Bullock and Caroline Browning. She was an obedient and loving child and found Christ at an early age. Most of her years growing up were spent working hard in the cotton fields. When she wasn't going to church or picking cotton, you could find her at home where she was a loving housewife to her husband and a wonderful Mother to her children.

Sister Reed enjoyed fishing, singing and being amongst family and friends. She was a Christian and absolutely loved going to church. She was a loyal and faithful member of New Bethel Baptist Church located in the Griffintown community. She absolutely loved going to church and praising the mighty name of Jesus. Wherever she went, she would praise the Lord whether through scripture, a word of prayer or a delightful hymn of praise. Sister Reed was also not ashamed to shout at the drop of a dime when someone talked about God's goodness, mercy and grace.

When it was found that her health was failing, her granddaughter Carolyn and her husband Kirk Owens left their home and moved in with her. Her granddaughter, Odessa Matlock, made sure her hair stayed healthy and fine. She also made sure to coordinate special things for all of Sister Reed's birthdays. They all cared for her until she took her last breath.

Sister Alberta Macon Reed departed this earthly life to join our Heavenly Father on September 10, 2016. Her triumphant journey ended in her 101 season of life! She is forever cherished and never forgotten by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Gilbert Macon and Eddie Reed; two brothers, Albert (Christine) Macon and Leon Macon and one sister, Elena Hogan.

Sister Alberta Reed leaves to cherish her precious memory: two loving daughters, Louise (Gale) Jones and Mae Francis Owens both of Arkadelphia, AR; One Son, Bobby (Ruth) Macon of Arkadelphia, AR; 17 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 32 great great grandchildren and an abundance of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
