Mrs. Callie Mitchell Helms was born February 11, 1916 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Henry and Mattie Mithell. She united with her husband, George Washington Healms on October 10, 1937. During this union six children were born. On Monday, february 6, 2012 she went home to be with her Lord and Savior.
Callie was a faithful member of Shady Grove A.M.E. Church where she served as President of the Steward Board and also was the Sunday School Treasurer. She love singing in the Church, spending time outdoors and being with family and friends.
Preceding her in death is her husband and one son, Amos Helms.
She leaves to cherish her memories five sons, Edward Lee (Vernance) Helms of Shreveport, LA; George (Madgeline) Helms, Bobby (Chaney) Helms, Billy Helms and Charles (Angela) Helms all of Arkadelphia, AR; one sister, Irene Amacker of Woodville, TX;
twelve grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Service will be Saturday at 11:00 A.M. at Gennesaret Missionary Baptist Church where Rev. Frederick Smith is Pastor and Rev. Troy Hearn, Eulogist.
Committal Service and final resting place will be at Shady Grove Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. Visitation is Friday 12 none to 7:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home.
