Charles Ford life began on September 21, 1941 in Camden, Arkansas. He was the fourth child of Rosetta and Tinie Ford Sr. He grew up in Camden, AR and attended Union Grove High School in Harmony Grove Community.
Charles worked at an early age as a contractor for the International Paper Mill and later worked many years for the Camden Furniture Factory. Eventually, he moved his family to Vallejo, California where he worked at the Navel Weapon Station in Concord, CA. He also worked as a Cement Mason on the San Francisco Bay Bridge, Richmond-San Rafael Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, CA.
He accepted Christ at an early age at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Camden, AR. Although he moved to California, he still considers Shady Grove as his home church.
On June 29, 2014, Charles slept into the Lord’s embrace. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosetta and Tinie Ford Sr., grandparents, great grandparents and one brother, Johnny Franklin Ford.
Charles leaves to cherish his precious memories of over fifty years to his loving wife Minnie Askew Ford and his loving children, Santhia T. Ford and his late wife Kathy Ford of Sacramento, CA, Terrye Brown and her husband Robbin Brown of Napa, CA, Charles Wardis Ford Jr. of Vallejo, CA, Timothy Dunn and his wife Carolyn Dunn of Louann, AR, Charosetta Ford and Jessie Ford of Vallejo.
Charles also leaves his precious grandchildren, great grandchildren along with two sisters, Yvonne C. Williams of Richmond, CA, Norma J. Beasley and her husband Solomon Beasley of Camden, AR, Leroy Ford and his wife Eva Ford of Camden, AR, Tinie Ford, Jr. and his wife Norma Ford of Suisun City, CA, Freddie Ford and his wife Charlesetta Ford of Bacaville, CA, Dorsey Ford of Richmond, CA, Alvin Ford of Rodeo, CA and his loving sister in-law Billie Ford of Vallejo, CA, Mae Jean Ford of Camden, AR and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 5, 2014 at 2 P.M. at Shady Grove Baptist Church with Rev. James C. Scott officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Arkadelphia.
