Charles Edward Johnson

Mr. Charles Edward (Reed) Johnson, was born Feb. 24, 1939 in Bearden, Arkansas to Wilbertine Hill and Roscoe Johnson. He departed this life at his home on January 23, 2011.

Charles joined St. Paul A.M.E. Church at an early age. He was a member of the St. Paul A.M.E Church Choir and was an active member of the church.

After graduating from Peake High School he served in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from McCullough Corporation in Lake Havasu, Arizona.

Charles leaves to cherish his memories his Mother, Wilbertine Hill of Arkadelphia AR; four sons, Tony Johnson of Ft. Worth, TX; Kevin Johnson of Pine Bluff, AR; Phillip McGhee of Arkadelphia, AR; and Charles Griffin of Kansas City, Mo; one daughter, Bridgette Gomez of Las Vegas, NV; two stepechildren, Veronica Staton of Compton, CA and Johnny Staton of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, Aubrey Hill of Malvern, AR; two sisters, Carol Strickland and Hazel Basey of Union City, CA; and seventeen grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by three son, Brad and Chad Johnson and Charles Rideout.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28 in the sanctuary at Sant Paul A.M.E. Church with Rev. Tom Scott officiating.

Charles will be laid to rest in Helms Cemetery under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M at Mitchell Funeral Home.
