Denise Lajoyce Middleton- Barton left her earthly home and went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, January 24, 2014. Denise began her life's journey on January 8, 1966, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, as the daughter of Londell and Annette Middleton.
She grew up in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and graduated from Arkadelphia High School in 1984 where she was homecoming queen, a participant in the sunshine pageant and a member of girl scouts. After graduating Denise also completed two years of college at Henderson State University.
Denise was a loving mother and grandmother. She showed true kindness to every person she came into contact with by giving encouraging words of wisdom, laughter and sharing God's love.
She was married to Kevin Barton for seventeen years. Into their union two children were born, Kevin Barton, Jr and Kendrick Barton. Together they also raised a loving daughter, Brittany Middleton.
Denise gave her life to Christ at an early age as a member of West Gum Springs Church of God in Christ where she served as the Sunshine Band Director, choir member and worked in the culinary department.
Denise was a dedicated employee of Courtyard Gardens for four years, Pig Pit restaurant for one year, and Petit Jean Poultry for many years.
Denise leaves to cherish her precious memory: her devoted parents, Londell and Annette Middleton of Arkadelphia; three beloved children Brittany Middleton, Kevin Barton, Jr., and Kendrick Barton all of Arkadelphia; two sisters Alfia Middleton and Tori Middleton both of Arkadelphia; four grandchildren Tynesha Renee Barton, Makiyah Denise Faye Wyatt, Zyon Marquez Wyatt, and Zachary Joseph Wyatt. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Elder James Banks as eulogist. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in the Joann Community under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 12 p.m.-7 p.m. with family hour from 6 p.m.-7 p.m.
