I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith- 2 Timothy 4:7
Donald “D” Ray Jones began his journey of life on June 13, 1958, in Arkadelphia, AR to the parentage of Gale and Louise Macon Jones. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in the small community of Griffintown, AR. He received his education from Arkadelphia Public School District.
Donald Ray met and fell in love with Wanda Russey on July 9, 1995. To this union, God blessed them with 2 beautiful daughters: Brandy Jones, and Kimberly Jones who were the “Absolute Apples” of his life.
Donald was employed most of his life in the logging industry. Although that was what he did mostly by far, it was certainly not his only skill. He was a true jack of all trades. As a son, brother, father, husband, and friend, Donald was a hardworking man! He worked hard and fast with the finished results always being complete.
Donald was a good man and his children and grandchildren were his heart and soul. He loved his family and would tell any of the family, “I love you” before he left. He would take the shirt off his back and help anyone he met. He lived life, loved to dance and make you laugh. He loved to clean his own vehicles and keep his yard and house immaculate. Donald knows he always dressed to the t when he stepped out and did his thing.
Donald Ray will be welcomed home by his brother, Willis Wayne Jones; Daughter, Eliza Jones; grandparents, Gilbert and Alberta Bullock Macon Reed; JC and Clarice Hunter Jones.
Those left to forever cherish his love, laughter, and fun are his loving parents, Gale and Louise Jones, of Arkadelphia, AR; long time companion, Kyla Salas of Arkadelphia, daughters, Brandy and Kimberly Jones, of Little Rock, AR; stepdaughter, Lakesha Nubine; sisters, Norma Jones, Cynthia Jones, and Carolyn (Kirk) Owens, all of Arkadelphia; brothers, Gale (Gloria) Jones, Jr. Eldridge Jones, and Michael Jones, all of Arkadelphia; 6 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Services are under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Arkadelphia, AR. Visitation will be Friday, May 13, 2022, at Mitchell Funeral Home from 12 noon- 7 P.M.
