Edward Batts, Sr. Obituary

"Glorious you are O Allah, and with Your praise, and blessed is Your name, and exalted is Your majesty, and none has the right to be worshipped but You."

Edward Anthony Batts, Sr. was born April 2, 1962, in Camden, Arkansas to Bonnie Owens and Flora Batts. He transitioned from this life into the presence of the father on May 4th, 2022, at the age of 60, in Chicago, Illinois.

Edward was reared in Camden, Arkansas. He graduated from Camden high school and attended the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff where he played football and excelled in academia. He later left his studies to serve in the Army National Guard. Professionally, Edward was an entrepreneur. He left this life serving as a Merchandise Shipping and Receiving Associate at UPS.

Edward dedicated his life to Christ at an early age.  While in Camden, he attended New Beginnings Deliverance Church where he was a faithful member.

Edward was a sharp dresser and loved the finer things in life. He was a music enthusiast, enjoyed travel, a good chess game, Arkansas Razorbacks, and attending the annual UAPB homecoming football games. He had an interest in law and often helped people within his community with legal matters. Most of all, Edward loved his children, family, and friends.

He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his presence and hilarious sense of humor. He truly brought life to the party. He had an uncanny ability to find happiness in his daily activities. His personality was contagious to everyone he met.

Edward married his then-wife Victoria Watts and within this union, they had two children Brandy Batts and Edward Batts Jr.

Edward was preceded in death by his father, Bonnie Owens, mother, Flora Batts, and brother Stanley Batts.

He leaves to cherish wonderful memories of him: Brandy Batts, daughter; Edward Batts Jr and Keion Batts, sons; Anthony, Iesha, Courtney, and Layla Batts, grandchildren; Carter Anthony Batts, great-grandson; Kathy Batts, Wanetta Batts-Lindsey, Sherry Batts-Graves, sisters; Charles (Ruby) Batts and Bernard Batts, brothers, and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
