And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest. -Psalm 55:6 KJV
On September 1, 2020, God sent his angel to usher Elder Paul Williams from labor to reward, in his 88th season. He was born on September 19, 1931, to Abe and Tiny Williams.
Elder Paul professed his hope in Christ at an early age. He was Saved, Sanctified, and filled with the Holy Ghost under the leadership of Elder Andrew Tate at the Manchester C.O.G.I.C. He became an ordained Elder in the C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Bishop R.B. Hatley. He later became the pastor of the Williams Temple C.O.G.I.C. after the passing of Elder Leo Williams. He also pastored Vaden C.O.G.I.C, Emmet C.O.G.I.C, and First Memorial C.O.G.I.C. He has been a loyal and faithful member of the Church of God in Christ, in good standing for 72 years.
He was an evangelist from his heart. He was a deacon before he became an Elder. He was a fireball preacher and was known for his awesome soul-saving 30-day tent revivals. He was a true praise leader and an anointed preacher and pastor. At times when the spirit ran over in him, he had to kick his leg up to get the praise all the way out!
In 1953 Elder Paul Williams met and fell in love, and married the love of his life, Missionary Mildred Williams. He remained faithful to Missionary Williams until her death. To their union, Six Sons were born.
On Tuesday Morning September 1, 2020, Elder Paul Williams walked away from this life into the Kingdom of God into his loving Saviour’s arms. He was preceded in death by his parents (Abe and Tiny Williams). Four Brothers (Arthur Williams, Sr.; Zachary Williams; Alfonzo Williams; Sidney Williams) One Sister (Geneva White) One Son (Calvin Van Williams). Two Great Grandchildren (Brianna Williams and Darius Williams).
Elder Paul Williams leaves to cherish his memory: His Five Beloved Sons: John Douglas Williams (Patricia) of Arkadelphia, AR; Maurice Williams (Norma) of Mountain Pine, Arkansas; James E. Williams of Arkadelphia, AR; Jerry D. Williams (Paulette) of Mesquite, Texas; Paul Dennis Williams of Arkadelphia, AR. Seventeen Grandchildren, a host of Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, In-laws, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The committal service and final resting place will be in the Piney Grove Cemetery, Manchester Community.
