Sis. Fannie Mae Hawthorne was born on February 16, 1925 to Jonny and Lucille Green. Both preceded her in death.
She departed this life on April 1, 2013 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Prescott, Arkansas in the afternoon hours.
She united with the Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in the early part of her life. She was a house wife, and devoted mother. She served as an Usher for an excess of fifty years. She was secretary of the Mission Department and loved to attend Sunday School. She was devoted to God and her church. One of her joys was to go to member's house and clean for those who could do it for their selves. They made Hot Tamales on Friday nights for the Community. She was the oldest member at Mt. Canaan namely the "Mother of the Church". Her favorite Scripture was Psalms 23. "The Lord is My Shepherd". Her favorite song was, "I'm Still Holding On". A life of Service.
She enriched the lives of many. James Hawthorne, her husband, who preceded her in death, six children, Willard (deceased) Hawthorne, Charles (Brenda) Hawthorne of Phoenix, AZ; David (Ruth) Hawthorne was raised from the age of four as a son but he was a brother of James, of Arkadelphia, AR; Jimmy (Joyce) Hawthorne, of Tulsa, OK; Margaret Hampton, of Fayetteville, AR; Betty Gulley, of Gurdon, AR; Shirley (Floyd) Sims, of Gurdon, AR; one brother, Willie Frank (deceased Green, two sisters, Leanner Harvell, of Gary, IN; Chad (deceased) Brown, seventeen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren. She was loved by a host of nephews, nieces and many friends.
