Hattie Mitchell Obituary

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.- Psalms 23:4

Hattie Marie Stuckey- Mitchell was born on March 30, 1936, in Gurdon, AR the daughter of Edward and Genella Stuckey. She was a graduate of Bell High School in Gurdon, and later attended Votech in Hope, AR studying nursing and dietary.

She met and married Alee Mitchell in 1956 and together 6 children were born and raised. 1 son, Christopher Allen, and 5 daughters, Rose Marilyn, Donna Denise, Beverly Ann, Cynthia Jeanette, and Karen Anita Marie.  Alee and Hattie were wonderful nurturers and providers and ensured their children had everything they needed to thrive and be happy in life. They were in wedded bliss for 40 years until only death separated them.

Hattie Marie was a very active member of her childhood church, Bethel A.M.E. in Gurdon. She was truly a woman of many hats depicting her love for designer hats, and all her attributes in the church and her life. As a member of Bethel A.M. E., she served as a missionary, member of the steward and trustee board, church treasurer, and choir member. Hattie later joined St. Paul A.M.E. in Arkadelphia where she served as a missionary and sang in the sanctuary choir until her health began to fail.

Hattie was a strong woman of faith who loved music. She and her husband both raised their children to fall in love with music and be stewards, sharing their talent with everyone to uplift and encourage. When people would come over to the family home, they always made their children perform singing, and playing multiple instruments like the Jackson 5 family as the children would joke.

On Saturday, April 23, 2022, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Hattie slipped into the Lord’s embrace for eternal rest. Those welcoming her in heaven include: her parents, husband, Alee Mitchell, daughter, Donna Hart, sister, Lula Gulley, and 2 brothers, Rev. David Stuckey, and Plas Eugene Stuckey.

Those left to celebrate her memories includes: her son, Christopher (Rebecca) Mitchell; daughters, Rose (Clemon) Gentry, Beverly (Troy) Willis, Cynthia Giles, and Karen Mitchell; one sister, Gwendolyn Smith; 1 brother, Charles Stuckey, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
