Henry Lee “Duck” Giles was born December 3rd, 1943, in Sparkman, Arkansas to the late James “Buddy” and Ollie Vester Giles. He departed this life February 3, 2022.
He’s preceded in death by three brothers, Ed Giles, James Giles, Sonnie Giles and one sister Charlene Kelly.
He attended Sparkman Training School in Sparkman, Arkansas. He dedicated his life to Christ at a young age at Harmony Baptist Church under Rev. Floyd O. Jones.
He moved to Kansas City, MO in 1963 where he attended Canaan Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev R.B. Poe.
He married Geraldine Lewis on August 12th, 1971, and to this union three children were born, Anthony Lewis, Arnandas Giles and V’ester “Bean” Giles. Duck was a devoted father and mentor to his children Stanley, Gina, Rick, Shaban and Traci. He started work at Wilson Meat Pack Company but found his passion career in over the road truck driving for MidWest Terminal in the late 1970’s before retiring to the farm in Kingsville, MO. He and his beloved wife Geri envisioned building their very own log cabin and that dream came to fruition in 2012.
He leaves to cherish his memories; Devoted Wife Geraldine Giles, Brother Robert Turrentine ( Mattie), Sister Barbara Harrison, Sister Clara Mabon, Sister Jackie Winrow (Eddie). Children; Stanley Giles (Tina), Gina Giles-Scott (Frank), Rick Giles, Tony (Tammy), Shaban Scott Sr. Ardy Giles (Amber), Vester Giles (Karlton) and a host of grandkids, great grandkids, friends and family.
Services are under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home of Arkadelphia, AR and Elite Funeral Chapel of Kansas City, MO. Funeral services began in Kansas City on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Bethlehem Church at 11:00 A.M. The final homegoing celebration will be on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at Harmony Baptist Church in Sparkman, AR. Interment will be in Harmony Cemetery in Sparkman, AR.
