Henry Lee Preston

1 Corinthians 15:51-54

“I tell you a mystery, brothers: we shall all be changed, not all of us shall die. In a moment, in a twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet, for the trumpet will sound and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall all be changed. For this corruptible will have to put on incorruptibility, and this mortal will have to put on immortality.

Henry Lee Preston was born on June 30,1959, in Calhoun County, Arkansas, to the late Sherman Sr and Jessie Preston. He was affectionately known amongst his parents, siblings, and family members as “Wee Wee.”

Henry attended school in Hampton Arkansas. He began working in the logging industry at an early age as a teenager, working many years into adulthood, until he was gravely injured while working. After a long recovery process, he was unable to return to work and stepped in to care for his ailing mother. He obtained his drivers license so he could chauffeur her around. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Later as an adult, he joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Harrell, Arkansas. Not long after his mother’s departure from this world he moved to Camden Arkansas, where he gained another nickname, “Pork Chop.”

God called and Henry answered, taking his last breath on Friday, April 25, 2025, at CHI St. Vincent hospital in Hot Springs Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman Lee Preston Sr., and Jessie Lee (Rayford)Preston, two brothers, Donnie Preston and Sherman Lee Preston Jr.

He will be profoundly missed and cherished by his siblings: two brothers, Bobby Preston, Jerry (Ida) Preston, and one sister, Jeanette Cones, all of Harrell, Arkansas; one beloved aunt, Erma Jean McElroy of Camden, AR; five nieces and two nephews: LaKeisha Walker of Hampton, AR, Anna Burns of Warren, AR, DeRay (Kamilah) Preston of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Jessica (Darnell) Washington of Conway, Arkansas, Derrick Preston of Little Rock, AR, Ashley Preston of Arkadelphia, AR, Latasha Preston of Harrell, AR, and Queshay Preston of Arkadelphia, AR, eight great nephews, six great nieces, three great-great nieces, and one great-great nephew, and many dearly loved cousins.

Henry’s final resting place will be the A.T. Cemetery in Jersey, Arkansas. A memorial service will be decided for a later date.
