On Saturday, December 7, 1963, Louis and Charlene Beavers Tolliver welcomed an energetic bouncing baby boy, James Edward Tolliver, Sr. He was born and reared in Antoine, AR.
James accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Harrison Chapel Baptist Church in Antoine. He later joined Mauney Street Church of Christ in Murfreesboro, AR and was a member until his passing. He was an ordained minister and song leader.
James received his education through Delight Public School System. He was employed at various places throughout his lifetime. He worked at Armour Foods, Diamond Country Foods, Tyson Foods, and Petit Jean Poultry. James was also a licensed electrician.
He was the proud Father of Halee Newburn. He loved baseball and he loved to sing. He was a songbird and had a melodious voice. His favorite pass times were fishing, eating, and spending time with his friends and family. James cherished his mother and before her passing, he would jump at the chance to shower her with love and gifts. He would give you the shirt off his back and his last dollar. If he was happy, he wanted you to be happy too.
In his 57th season of like, Monday, November 8, 2021, he quietly slipped into eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his parents, nephews, Marcus Gentry, Lavell Beavers, and Cory Richardson.
James had an infectious smile and an unforgettable laugh that will be missed by many. Though he is physically no longer with us, his legacy will live on forever in our hearts and minds.
He leaves to cherish his love and memories: his daughter, Halee Newburn of Arkadelphia, AR; two sisters, Shirley (Troy) Gentry of Antoine, and Sharon Tolliver of, Lansing, MI; five brothers, Gary Richardson and Larry Beavers, both of Hot Springs, AR, Craig Beavers, of Nashville, AR, Winston (Melissa) Tolliver of Antoine, and Eric Tolliver, of Shreveport, LA; Bonus Mother, Sammie Dykes, of Shreveport; Aunts, Verne Tolliver of Madison, WI, Mary Gulley, of Milwaukee, WI, and Tiffany Tolliver, of Fulton, AR; Uncles, Wayne (Judy) Tolliver, of Prescott, AR Earl Tolliver, of San Jose, CA, and Jerry (Flo) Tolliver of Washington DC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and special friends, Anthony May, Johnny Harris, and Lee Sims.
