Johnathan Griffin-Chandler Obituary

Johnathan Eugene Griffin-Chandler was born on August 20, 1977, in Monticello, AR, to Shelley Jean (Davis) Griffin and Oliver Gene Griffin. He spent his childhood between Perris, CA and Hamburg, AR. Johnathan attended high school in Hamburg, AR. During high school, Johnathan was an active member of the Hamburg High football team. Throughout his life, Johnathan had a love for sports. As a young child he enjoyed playing basketball and football. Johnathan was adopted by his Uncle and Aunt, Bennie C. and Rosemary Chandler.


He was  a talented and creative individual. He was an upbeat man who spent his life looking forward to the future. Johnathan was best remembered for his charming personality and winning smile. He loved his family and was the apple of his sister, LaTisha’s, eye. Johnathan loved the Lord and gave his life to Christ in November, 2018.


Johnathan was preceded in death by his mother, Shelley Griffin,  grandmother, Corene Spencer Henry and his uncle/adoptive father, Bennie Chandler. Those left to cherish Johnathan’s memory are his aunt/adoptive mother, Rosemary Chandler of Perris CA; birth father, Oliver Griffin of Crossett, AR; sister, LaTisha McClure (Allen) and their children, Allen Jr, Cameron and Alexis of Round Rock, TX; cousins/adoptive brothers, Geno (Shauna) Chandler and his children, Tonya, Tyrese, Thaila, Tamia and Tayshaun of Perris CA; Curtis Chandler and his children, Aubrianna and Curtis Jr. of Moreno Valley, CA; uncles Tony Davis of Temple, TX and Dewayne Davis (Jerry) of Crossett, AR as well as a host of family and friends.


Graveside Memorial services will be Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 10:00 A.M. at Lacey Cemetery in Monticello, AR. Committal and final resting place will be in Lacey Cemetery in Monticello, AR. The online guestbook is available to sign at www.mitchellfuneralservices.com
