Judelia Brunson Duncan-Dickerson was born on February 14, 1937 in Burtsell, Arkansas to the union of Jeff and Charlie C. Duncan. At an early age she joined St. John A.M.E. Church, Burtsell, AR. She was a faithful member of Holly Grove Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Simmons High School, Okolona, AR.
Judelia Brunson Duncan-Dickerson quietly departed this life on July 15, 2013. She was predeceased by her Mother Charlie C. Duncan and Father Jeff Duncan, one brother Charlie T. Duncan, two sisters Mannie Lou Sorrell Welch-Joshua and Mary Louise Duncan- Andrews.
Judelia Brunson Duncan-Dickerson was united in Holy Matrimony to Charlie F. Dickerson in December 1957, and moved to the Holly Grove Community. Judelia Dickerson was a home maker and worked several years as a housekeeper for Grenon Race Horse Farm, Henderson State University, Joe Gardner and the Hopgood family in the the Holly Grove and Trinity Community.
Judelia Brunson Duncan-Dickerson was a woman of many natural abilities: Creating beautiful quilts, home canning for family and friends, avid fishing, master of flowers and planting vegetables, and a woman who believed in the old time disciplining. She enjoyed fellowshipping with family and friends. Proverbs 31:10-Who Can Find A Virtuous Woman, reminded us of the type of woman Judelia was.
Judelia Brunson Duncan-Dickerson leaves to cherish her memories: Her daughters, Patricia A. McGhee of Arkadelphia, AR, and Broda Marie Dickerson of Gurdon, AR; Sons, Charles (Sherry) Dickerson Jr., Reginald (LaShunda) Dickerson all of Arkadelphia, AR, Hercules Dickerson of Okolona, AR, Reverend Michael J. (Linda) Dickerson, and Alfonso Dickerson all of Mineral Springs, AR; Eleven grandchildren; Four great-grandchildren; Two sisters Yvonne Duncan-Lowe of Hot Springs, AR and Bessie Marie Duncan- (Johnny) Lacy; One brother Lloyd (Gertha) Duncan of Mt. Pine, AR; Three sister-in-laws Clara Dickerson and Sarah Stewart both of Chicago, IL and Ruthell Dickerson of Flint, MI; Special friend Catherine Grenon of St. Marteville, LA. And a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 2 P.M. at the Holly Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jessie Newborn officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home at the Holly Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday July 19 at the funeral home from 12 to 7 P.M. with family hour from 6 to 7 P.M.
