Rev. Mitchell Obituary

Then I heard a voice from heaven say, "Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." "Yes," says the Spirit, "they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them." -Revelation 14:13

Rev. Larry D. Mitchell was born in Arkadelphia, AR on September 23, 1953 to the late Johnny and Estella Mitchell. After graduating from Arkadelphia High School, he made a decision to enlist in the United States Army where he proved to serve his country faithfully until he was honorably discharged.

Rev. Mitchell was a fun and outgoing individual who loved the word of God. He found Christ at an early age and became a member of Mt. Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Elijah Giles. Rev. Mitchell was a spokesperson for KVRC where he hosted a Christian radio station for a while. It wasn't long before he was called into the ministry and was elected to Pastor Garrett Chapel Baptist Church in Hope, AR. He was later chosen as the Pastor of First Baptist Church in Okolona, AR on March 1, 2009 where he served until his demise.

Rev. Mitchell loved to laugh and held steadfastly to God's unchanging hand until his last breath. On December 27, 2016 Rev. Larry D. Mitchell slipped into the Lord's heavenly embrace in his 63rd season of life. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Those ascended before him were, his parents; Johnny and Estella Mitchell; two brothers, Fred Box and Ed Mitchell; two sisters, Mary Mitchell and Dois Mitchell. Those left to cherish his memory are: his daughter, Miranda Mitchell of Little Rock, AR; one sister, Ella Mae Mitchell of California; one brother, Issac Mitchell of Detroit, cousin, Sandra Brim of Curtis, AR, beloved church family and friends.
