Rosie Jean Meeks was born on October 4, 1929, in Delight, AR, to Ben and Else Furlow. Rosie was a people person who carried a smile everywhere she went and never seemed to meet a stranger. She attended Peake Rosenwald and later, determined to graduate, she took night classes accomplishing her goal graduating from Delight Public school.
Rosie was a determined, hard working woman. She was employed as a presser for Levi Strauss where she retired after over 30 years of dedicated service. After retiring she continued her house keeping business until she decided to rest and just keep busy with her family.
Sister Meeks was a God fearing, family oriented woman. Her family meant everything to her and she instilled in them her values on working, education, and loving one another. She found Christ at an early age and after she was baptized, she became a long time member of Harrison Chapel Church in Delight.
Rosie passed into the Lord’s embrace on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Nightingale at Arkadelphia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, one brother, and sister. Her legacy will live in the memory of: her daughter, Coyneil Moore of Okolona, AR; Stepson, James Meeks (Beverly), of Delight, AR; 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 27 great great grandchildren, and 4 great great great grandchildren. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.
