Roy Charles Gray began his journey on July 12, 1928, in Arkadelphia, AR one of four sons born into the union of Will and Lillie Gray. He was educated at Peake High School and served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He later worked at Coca-Cola bottling Company where he retired after 50 years of dedicated service.
Roy gave his life to Christ at an early age and became a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church. He married his first wife, Rosie Lee Wright and to this union, 4 children were born: Lola, Carolyn, Roy Glen, and Lonnie. Later in life, he married Mattie Joyce Gray and they were together until her passing. Some of Roy’s life pleasures were visiting family and friends, going to Walmart, and watching sports on T.V. (specifically BET and the News). He enjoyed sitting on his porch watching cars go by and waving at friends walking to the nearby store until his health declined.
In his 92nd season, he surrendered his life to the Lord on December 10, 2020, at Courtyard Gardens Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia. He was preceded in death by his parents, will and Lillie Gray; wife, Mattie Joyce Gray; one son, Lonnie Gray Sr. and 3 brothers, Willie, Frank, and June Gray. He leaves to cherish his memory: 3 children, Lola Gray, Carolyn Jackson, and Roy Glen Gray; caregiver and a great-niece that he thought of as a daughter, Stephanie Thomas; 4 grandchildren, Kimberly Dawson, Lesley Jackson, Dorian Gray, and Lonnie Gray Jr; 1 great-grandchild, Brooke Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
