Shelia Scott Obituary

Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matthew 5:4

In the 64th season of a loved life, Shelia Kay Scott of Arkadelphia, Arkansas was granted her angel wings on September 10, 2019, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Her final days were spent in the home of her daughter, Jessica Scott, Manassas, VA.

Shelia K. was born November 5, 1954, the daughter of the late Tracy Scott, Sr., and Classie Mae Scott. She graduated from Arkadelphia High School, class of 1973.  Following graduation, she attended Secretarial School in Little Rock, AR.

She valued the lives and well-being of others which led to her interest in providing care for others, hanging out with friends and enjoying life to the fullest.  She lived an independent life raising three children as a dedicated, single mother.  As her children grew and moved out on their own, she continued to treat them as her “babies” and extended that love towards her seven grandchildren.  Shelia led a life filled with love, laughter, family, and friends.  Although she led a simple life, she knew how to make any occasion memorable and had an infectious laugh and a beautiful, warm smile.  She had a heart of gold and a very giving spirit.

Shelia loved her church, Greater Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, where she held various positions.  She worked in the Youth and Transportation Ministries, transporting youth to various events.  Her love for the youths led her serving many years in the Nursery Ministry.  During her early years of service, she was a member of the choir and served as president of the Usher Department. Shelia K. was employed twenty-two years with Arkco.  Her final employment prior to her illness and move to Virginia was with Pediatrics Plus.

Shelia was welcomed in heaven by her parents, Tracy Scott, Sr. and Classie M. Brownlee, Dad, Elton Smith, Brother, Oliver “Koolkat” Charles Scott, grandparents, Celie and Bernie Nolan and Lacy and Maxine Scott.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughters, Tameka (James) Ekpa -Woodbridge, VA, Jessica Scott – Manassas, VA, and a devoted son, Jahleel “Bang” Scott – Manassas, VA; seven adored grandchildren, Ajala Bragg – Los Angeles, CA, Keyasha Jones – Arkadelphia, AR, Jagen Johnson – San Antonio, TX, Jakobi Bernard and Jakyri Bernard Scott – Arkadelphia, AR, Kai and Harmony Brownlee – Woodbridge, VA.  Siblings Tracy (Elvalyne) Scott – Arkadelphia, AR, Debra (James) Fuller – Manassas, VA, Elton Grant – Jonesboro, AR, John Marshall “Barnyard” Robinson- Arkadelphia, AR, Sarah Robinson – Searcy, AR and Harold (Tongela) Robinson – Searcy, AR. Aunts, Ethel Stephens -Arkadelphia, AR and Ora Smith- Arkadelphia, AR, Betty (Hayward) Elliot – Portsmouth, VA, Uncle Oliver (Lillian) Nolan – Forestville, MD, dearest friends, Ruthie Knox and Clarise Davis; and host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, devoted friends and co-workers. Well done thy good and faithful servant –

Mama/Granny K.
