Simon Tate III Obituary

"God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be so he put his arms around you and whispered; Come to Me"

Simon Tate, Jr. the III was born in Beirne, AR in a little four-room house to his mother Myrce Golden Tate and (Bud) Simon Tate, Sr. the II. He was the third child born to this union. He was known as a very active child and even then love to work.

Mr. Tate made wagon wheels, chairs and furniture. He even made his first chair for the house they moved to in the Quarters. Dad started working at the age of 16 at Cabe Lumber Co. to help the family out due to his dad having a stroke and becoming ill. Simon has always been a hard worker as well as stayed busy all the time. Not only did he work but he would find odd jobs after work as well hauling billets with his own billet truck, as well as yard cleaning, selling firewood, carpentry, building pallets and anything he could find to do to support his wife and two kids. Many times he would take his children alone to both teach them and help him with various jobs.

Simon could never sit still and always did things in a hurry. If he didn't have any jobs lined out he would drive around and find one, or even make one to keep himself busy from dawn to dusk and sometimes into the night. Simon never met a stranger and had many friends that would bring him things or help him to find different odd jobs because they knew how much he loved to work.

He attended school at Shady Grove in Beirne, AR and Bell High in Gurdon until he had to start working full time because of his dad's illness and death. He worked at Cabe Lumber Co. for many years, AP&L making the light and power poles, Anthony Higgs and International Paper to name a few. He joined church at an early age at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Beirne, AR later after asking Ada B. McReynolds to marry him. He changed his life and joined First Memorial C.O.G.I.C. where he was baptized. He enjoyed fishing, some hunting, riding around and work most of all.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Simon Tate, Sr. the I and his wife Sarah; his father: Simon Tate, Jr. the II and Myrce (Golden) Tate; a host of aunts and uncles as well as a brother: Tommy Tate and his close friend and cousin: Phillip Allen; and son-in-law: Freddrick A. Davis.

His legacy and memories will be held most dear by his wife: Corine Ada Bell McReynolds Tate of Gurdon, AR; his daughter: Ada Jean Tate Davis (Fred Andrew Davis, deceased) of Gurdon, AR; son: Kenny Ray Tate of Ft. Worth, TX; his siblings: Blanche Garner (Willie D) of St., Louis, MO, Pinky Harvell (Roger Sr., deceased) of Gurdon, AR, Sidney Tate, Gurdon, AR, Gerelidine (Sally) Leeks (Melvin) of St. Louis, MO, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
