Mrs. Zannie Mae Hatley,96, of Arkadelphia left this eartlhy life to be with our heavenly Father on April 7, 2014. She was born May 13, 1917 in Whelen Springs the daughter of the late Henry and Lula Mason.
She accepted Christ and was baptized at Spring Hill Baptist Church in Whelen Springs. She attended Whelen Springs Public School. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Gurdon for several years. In 1982, she moved to Arkadelphia and untied with Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Zannie married John Hatley and to this union three children were born. She worked various jobs with her last being an employee at the Gurdon Nursing Home. Zannie was very family oriented and was the caregiver for her parents. She was a fun loving and compassionate woman who spoke encouraging words to inspire and uplift. She made friends across every race, gender, faith and gave generously to those in need and inspired everyone who crossed her path.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; two brothers, four sisters, and a daughter, Winne Macon.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, John (Dorothy) Hatley of Dunnellon, FL; one daughter, Lucinda Dickens of Gurdon; five Grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of neices, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Lewis A. Sheperd, Jr. officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home.
