Zerrottie Craig Obituary

Deacon Zerrottie Lemans Craig was born on July 14, 1972, in Prescott, Arkansas, to Rickey and Betty Craig of Sparkman, Arkansas. Zerrottie quietly departed this life at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, on April 10, 2017.

At an early age, he professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined the Church of the Living God Pillar and Ground of the Truth, Temple #16, in Vaden, Arkansas, where he was a dedicated member. At the time of his passing, Zerrottie served faithfully as a deacon, Assistant Superintendent and choir member.

Zerrottie attended the public schools in Sparkman, Arkansas and graduated from Sparkman High School in 1991. In 1991, he moved to Malvern and later to Hot Springs. Shortly after, he met the love of his life, Cheryl Crawford, in 1992 and later they united in holy matrimony on March17, 2001.

Zerrottie was a member of the Arkansas Army National Guard, faithfully serving 16 years and achieving the rank of Sergeant. Therapeutic Family Services employed Zerrottie as a Mental Health Paraprofessional and he gave his time and friendship to everyone he met. He used his hands to help others build and repair in the surrounding communities. He was an outdoorsman and a cattleman. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. He was also an active member of Prince Hall Free and Accepted Masons, Excelsior Universal Lodge #13, in Gum Springs, Arkansas.

Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents, Cleophus and Ora Lee Craig; his maternal grandparents, C.V. and Ruby Govan; his younger brother, Derrick Manwell Craig. Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife, Cheryl Craig and their children, Jacob (Tequira) Craig and Jasen McDaniel of Hot Springs, Arkansas; his stepson, Justin Crawford of Hot Springs, Arkansas; and five grandchildren of Hot Springs, Arkansas; his parents, Rickey and Betty Craig of Sparkman, Arkansas; his sister, Thomasena (George) McNutt of Sherwood,Arkansas; his brother, Warrick (Miranda) Craig of DuPont, Washington; father and mother in-law, Clifford and Margaret Loveday of Hot Springs, Arkansas; three nieces, two nephews; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be Friday, April 14 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.at Mitchell Funeral Home. Friends and Family Hour will be Friday from 6 p.m.- 7 p.m. at The Church of the Living God Pillar Ground of The Truth Temple #16 located in Vaden, AR where Pastor Roosevelt Pigg will serve as eulogist and Chief Bishop R. T. Turner of Plano, TX will serve as officiant.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at First Missionary Baptist Church, located at 225 Ethel Street in Sparkman, AR 71763, where Rev. Louis A. Craig is Pastor. Services will start at 4 p.m.

Family and Friends hour will be at Church of the Living God, Pillar and Ground of the Truth located in Vaden, AR from 6 p.m.- 7 p.m.

Dinner will be served at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
